SK16 Raised Round Shaft Clamp
SK16 holds the end of a 16 mm round shaft above the machine plate. Its split aluminum body closes around the shaft when the side clamp screw is tightened.
Description
Product Details
The support has two separate fastening areas. Bolts through the base anchor the body to the machine, while the upper screw controls the clamping bore. No thread or cross-hole is required in the shaft end.
The raised bore provides room below the shaft for a closed linear bearing and its housing. SK16 remains stationary during operation; only the bearing or mounted carriage travels.
Two supports are normally used for one shaft. Their bore centers must form one straight line, otherwise tightening the clamps can pull the shaft into a bend.
Product Description
Place both supports on the mounting surface without fully tightening them. Slide the shaft through the two bores and use it to establish their common position. The base bolts can then be secured before the upper clamp screws receive final tightening.
The clamp only needs enough force to prevent the shaft from moving. Excessive tightening can mark the shaft or distort the bore at the support position.
SK16 is intended for a 16 mm shaft. A support with a similar outside appearance but a different SK number has a different bore and should not be used as a substitute.

FAQ
Does the shaft need a threaded end?
No. The split bore grips a plain 16 mm cylindrical surface.
Is SK16 a moving bearing block?
No. It is fixed to the machine base and does not contain circulating balls.
Which screws should be tightened first?
Align the two supports with the shaft, secure the base bolts and then tighten the shaft clamps.
Can one support hold the complete shaft?
A typical installation uses one support at each end. The required arrangement still depends on shaft length and loading.
Can a modified support be made from a drawing?
We build to customer drawings under OEM/ODM, and accept orders as small as a single piece for standard sizes.
