Housing Installation

The bearing has no mounting flange of its own. It must be installed in a bore or bearing holder that supports the cylindrical outer shell.

Axial movement inside the housing must be prevented by an appropriate shoulder, retaining rings or another mechanical retention method. Adhesive alone should not be treated as the primary locating feature unless the housing design specifically requires it.

Pressing force must be applied evenly to the metal outer shell. Force should not be transmitted through the nylon cage, seals or ball circuits.

 

Shaft Entry

A sharp shaft edge can turn the seal lip inward or cut it during assembly. The shaft end should therefore be clean and chamfered before it enters the LM30UU.

 

The shaft must pass through the bearing on the same centreline as the housing bore. Using the shaft to force a misaligned bearing into position can damage the ball tracks or create tight movement.

 

Once assembled, move the bearing over the complete working section by hand. Local resistance may indicate shaft damage, contamination, housing distortion or incorrect alignment.

 

Internal Construction

The page specifies a 45# carbon-steel outer shell, GCr15 chrome-steel balls and a nylon cage. The cage separates and returns the balls as they circulate around the 30 mm shaft.

 

The seals at both ends help retain lubricant and reduce the entry of ordinary contamination. They do not turn the bearing into a fully enclosed or waterproof component.
