SI16 Right Hand Female Joint

Product Details

One side of the SI16 receives the mating rod through an internal right-hand M16 thread. The opposite end contains a spherical bearing with a 16 mm center bore for the joint pin.

 

The inner ring can tilt inside the housing, allowing the two connected parts to operate when their centerlines are not perfectly fixed in one straight position. This movement is limited by the bearing geometry and should not be treated as unrestricted rotation.

 

SI identifies a female-thread rod end. It is different from a male-thread SA or POS type, even when the spherical bore has the same diameter.

 

Product Description

The installed center distance can be adjusted by changing how far the threaded rod enters the housing. Enough thread engagement must remain inside the rod end after adjustment, and a locknut should secure the final position.

 

Because SI16 uses a right-hand thread, turning the rod changes the linkage length in the normal tightening direction. A linkage that requires adjustment by rotating one common rod may use opposite thread directions at its two ends; in that case, the matching left-hand component must be ordered separately.

 

The pivot bolt or pin should clamp against the inner ring rather than squeeze the outside housing. Side plates must leave room for the rod end to articulate without contacting the housing at the edge of its travel.

 

This joint is primarily selected for radial loading. Continuous axial force, shock loading and the required operating angle must be checked against the actual version before installation.

FAQ

Does SI16 have a male or female thread?

It has an internal female thread. Male-thread rod ends belong to a different model family.

Is the M16 thread left handed?

No. This SI16 page specifies a right-hand M16 thread. A left-hand component must be identified and ordered separately.

Can the rod end be used to change the linkage length?

Yes. The position can be adjusted along the mating thread, provided sufficient thread remains engaged and the setting is secured with a locknut.

Does the spherical insert remove all alignment error?

No. It permits a limited articulation angle. The linkage must still be installed within the joint's permissible movement range.

Can a rod end be produced for an existing linkage drawing?

We build to customer drawings under OEM/ODM, and accept orders as small as a single piece for standard sizes.
