SCL Extended Round Shaft Carriage

Product Details

The SCL housing surrounds the internal linear ball bearing and provides a flat mounting surface for the moving machine component. Four threaded mounting positions distribute the connection along the extended body.

 

Two housing constructions are shown in the product drawing:

SCL-UU: closed housing with a fixed bearing bore.

SCL-AJ-UU: slotted housing with adjustment screws for limited radial-clearance setting.

 

The longer housing distributes the applied force across a greater axial distance than a short SCV unit. This arrangement is useful when the attached plate produces an overturning moment or requires more stable guidance along the shaft.

 

Product Description

The carriage moves while the round shaft remains fixed. Recirculating balls roll between the bearing raceways and the hardened shaft surface, while seals at both ends help retain lubricant and limit the entry of ordinary contaminants.

 

The AJ version provides limited adjustment around the bearing. Its screws should be tightened evenly and only enough to obtain the required running condition. Excessive tightening can deform the bearing sleeve, increase friction and shorten service life.

 

When two shafts are used, their spacing and parallel alignment must be established before the carriages are fully fastened to the moving plate. The adjustment mechanism must not be used to compensate for incorrectly positioned shafts.

 

Model selection begins with the shaft diameter, followed by housing length, mounting pattern, required load rating and available installation space. The shaft must also have suitable hardness, surface finish, straightness and diameter tolerance.

FAQ

What is the difference between SCL and SCV?

SCL has an extended housing and a longer supporting area. SCV is the shortened version used where installation length is restricted.

When should the AJ version be selected?

Choose SC□L-AJ-UU when limited bearing-clearance adjustment is required. The closed SC□L-UU housing does not provide the same external adjustment.

Can the AJ screws correct shaft misalignment?

No. They adjust the bearing fit only. Shaft spacing, parallelism and mounting-surface alignment must be corrected separately.

Does a higher static load rating equal the permitted machine payload?

No. The final payload also depends on load direction, moment arm, number of carriages, shaft deflection, speed and mounting rigidity.

Are the shafts included with the SCL carriage?

The shafts and shaft supports should be treated as separate components unless they are specifically included in the quotation.

Can a standard model be ordered individually?
