Standard housing or adjustable housing

The two versions shown in Guangyuan's SCS catalogue differ at the housing. The standard SCS-UU has an unsplit body around the bearing. The SCS-AJ-UU incorporates a side slit and an adjustment screw, providing a means of adjusting bearing clearance rather than relying solely on a fixed housing fit.

This distinction is visible in the product photographs: the adjustable version has a horizontal split extending from the bearing area through one side of the housing. Adjustment acts on the bearing fit; it is not a correction for bent shafts or misaligned shaft supports. Excessive tightening can increase running resistance, so an adjustable block should not be described as automatically providing zero clearance.

Both versions retain a closed bearing arrangement around the shaft. Unlike an open SBR or TBR block, they have no lower passage for a continuous shaft support. SCS Linear Ball Bearing Blocks therefore operate on exposed round shafts, with the shaft supports positioned outside the required travel path.

The bearing and housing perform different jobs

Inside the unit, recirculating balls provide rolling contact with the shaft. The aluminum housing holds the bearing and provides four fixing positions for the moving component. This separates the bearing's running function from the mechanical attachment to a carriage or fixture.

The catalogue covers nominal shaft sizes from 6 to 60 mm. Selected sizes below show how the mounting envelope changes across the range. Each row applies to the corresponding standard and AJ housing versions.

The model notation follows the product chart. Its load ratings describe the bearing unit, not the permitted payload of a complete moving table.

An increase in shaft size also changes the space required around the bearing. Moving from the 20 mm to the 25 mm model increases housing width from 54 to 76 mm and length from 50 to 67 mm, while the published dynamic rating rises from 882 to 980 N. A larger housing therefore does not imply a proportional increase in rated load.

For a multi-block carriage, the distance between blocks and the location of the working load remain relevant. A tool extending beyond the carriage introduces a moment as well as a direct force. The mounting dimensions and bearing ratings of SCS Linear Ball Bearing Blocks need to be considered together when establishing that layout.
