SCS Linear Ball Slide Block

Technical Description

The SCS slide block combines a linear ball bearing with a rigid aluminum housing. Mounting holes in the housing allow a carriage, fixture or machine component to be attached directly to the block, while the internal bearing provides rolling movement along a cylindrical shaft.

This is a closed-type slide block for a round shaft. It is different from an open SBR bearing block and cannot pass over the continuous support located beneath an SBR rail. The shaft diameter must correspond to the selected SCS model.

 

Before installation, confirm the shaft diameter, housing dimensions, mounting-hole spacing and required block quantity. The shaft must be straight and correctly aligned. When two shafts are used in parallel, poor alignment can increase running resistance and place uneven load on the bearings.

FAQ

Q: Does the SCS block include the guide shaft?
A: The block and shaft are separate components unless the order specifically states that they are supplied together.

Q: How do I select the correct SCS model?
A: Match the model's nominal bore diameter to the diameter of the round linear shaft. The housing size and mounting-hole arrangement must also suit the carriage design.

Q: Can an SCS block run on an SBR supported rail?
A: No. The SCS block has a closed bearing structure. A supported SBR shaft normally requires a compatible open-type SBR bearing block.

Q: Can two slide blocks be installed on one shaft?
A: Yes. The number of blocks depends on the carriage length, applied load and required resistance to moment loading.

Q: Can the standard block dimensions be changed?
A: Standard SCS models use fixed housing dimensions. A nonstandard housing can be discussed separately when a complete drawing is provided.
