Choosing Between SCE and SCEL

The two versions are selected by housing length as well as shaft diameter. SCE provides the shorter mounting footprint. SCEL extends the body along the travel direction, providing a longer guided section where the machine layout has enough installation space.

 

The product photographs show both formats: the shorter block is marked SCE16VUU, while the extended block is marked SCEL16UU.

These markings should be checked directly because matching the 16 mm bore alone does not confirm that the housing dimensions and mounting holes are interchangeable.

 

Mounting Without Distorting the Bearing

The aluminum housing establishes the relationship between the shaft centerline and the machine mounting surface. The supporting plate must therefore be flat. Pulling the block against an uneven plate can distort the housing and produce tight movement even when the shaft diameter is correct.

 

During assembly, leave the mounting screws slightly loose and move the carriage through its intended travel. Tighten the screws gradually after the block moves without local resistance. For a two-shaft mechanism, align the second shaft from the assembled carriage positions instead of fixing both shafts independently.

 

SCE and SCEL are closed-bearing units for unsupported round shafts. They are different from open TBR or SBR blocks, which contain a lower opening to pass over a continuous rail support.

FAQ

Is SCEL simply another name for SCE?

No. SCEL has an extended body and requires a different amount of mounting space.

Can two blocks with the same bore have different mounting dimensions?

Yes. Bore size only identifies the matching shaft diameter. Housing length, center height and hole positions must also be compared.

Can these blocks run on a continuously supported TBR rail?

No. SCE and SCEL use a closed bearing bore. A supported TBR rail requires an open bearing block with clearance beneath the shaft.

What can cause a new block to feel tight after mounting?

A misaligned shaft, an uneven mounting plate or forced alignment between two parallel shafts can all create binding.

Can a replacement be produced from the existing installation drawing?

We build to customer drawings under OEM/ODM, and accept orders as small as a single piece for standard sizes.
