HGH-CA/HA Square Block Rail Assembly

CA and HA identify two carriage configurations within the HGH family. The CA block has the shorter body. The HA block extends farther along the rail and provides higher load and moment ratings in the same nominal size.

Four threaded holes on top of the carriage receive the machine plate or moving component. The rail is secured separately through its countersunk mounting holes. This arrangement keeps the carriage width within the rail assembly envelope and suits equipment designed around a square block rather than a flange block.

The available dimensional chart covers nominal sizes 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 45, 55 and 65. HGH15 is shown in the CA configuration, while sizes 20 through 65 include both CA and HA options.

Product Description

Carriage selection should be based on more than the downward working load. The retained dimensional chart lists dynamic and static load ratings together with MR, MP and MY moment ratings. These moment values become important when the payload is positioned above the block, extends beyond the carriage or applies force away from its centre.

During installation, the rail reference edge should be seated against a straight locating shoulder before the mounting bolts are tightened. The matching carriage datum must face the intended reference side of the machine plate. Misaligned mounting surfaces can force the blocks to compensate for errors in the machine base and create uneven running resistance.

When two parallel rails are used, one rail normally establishes the alignment reference and the second is positioned from it. Both rails should be checked over the full travel before the carriage plate is finally tightened.

Order information should include the complete HGH designation, rail length, number of blocks, carriage configuration and required accuracy or preload. CA and HA blocks of the same nominal size should not be treated as identical because their body lengths, mounting dimensions and ratings differ.

When should an HA carriage be selected instead of CA?

HA provides a longer carriage body and higher ratings within the corresponding rail size. It is useful when the available installation length permits the larger block and additional load or moment capacity is required.

Can CA and HA blocks be ordered for every HGH size?

Not according to the displayed table. HGH15 is listed as CA, while the published sizes from HGH20 through HGH65 show both CA and HA configurations.

Why are moment ratings required for selection?

A load positioned away from the block centre produces a turning effect in addition to direct force. MR, MP and MY ratings allow this condition to be checked in three directions.

Can two rails be tightened independently without alignment checks?

They should be aligned as one guide system. If the second rail is fixed in an incorrect position, the connected carriage plate may force the blocks sideways as they travel.

Can rails be supplied to a specified machine length?

We build to customer drawings under OEM/ODM, and accept orders as small as a single piece for standard sizes.
