GM Spiral Slot Shaft Coupling
The GM coupling is machined as one aluminum piece, with spiral slots separating the two shaft hubs. Standard outside diameters range from 12 mm to 50 mm.

Product Details
Torque passes through the slotted center without an elastomer, pin or separate diaphragm. Elastic movement of the spiral section permits small differences between the driving and driven shaft positions.
Each hub uses a radial fastening screw. Bore (d1) fits the input shaft and bore (d2) fits the output shaft, so the two ends may be ordered with different diameters.
The published series contains fourteen body sizes. Available bores extend from 2 mm to 32 mm, depending on the selected outside diameter.
Product Description
Insert each shaft far enough for its fastening screw to contact a solid shaft section. The shaft ends should not meet inside the flexible slot area.
Use the tightening torque listed for the selected screw size. The table specifies 0.7 N·m for M3 screws, 1.7 N·m for M4, 4 N·m for M5 and 7 N·m for M6.
Every model carries the same published displacement limits: 0.15 mm eccentricity, 3° angular deflection and ±0.2 mm axial movement. Rated torque and maximum speed change with the coupling body size.

FAQ
Does this coupling contain a rubber insert?
No. Flexibility comes from the spiral cuts in the aluminum body.
Can the two coupling bores be different?
Yes. Specify both (d1) and (d2) according to the two shaft diameters and the available bore list.
Are all GM sizes rated for the same speed?
No. The published maximum decreases from 30000 rpm on the smallest body to 8000 rpm on the largest.
Can the spiral section correct a large mounting error?
No. Shaft displacement must remain within the allowable values shown in the GM specification sheet.
Can a special bore combination be supplied?
We build to customer drawings under OEM/ODM, and accept orders as small as a single piece for standard sizes.
