GIC Parallel Slit Clamp Coupling
The GIC series uses parallel machined slots to create a flexible section between two clamp hubs. It is designed for compact motor and encoder connections where torque must pass through without a separate rubber or plastic insert.
Description
Product Details
The defining feature of the GIC series is its parallel slot pattern. The cuts are arranged through one aluminum body, leaving connected flexure sections between the input and output hubs. Torque follows this continuous metal path in either rotational direction.
A clamp screw closes each hub around its shaft. This avoids concentrating the entire holding force at the tip of a set screw. Different bores may be used at the two ends, which is useful when a motor shaft and a driven shaft do not share the same diameter.
The coupling can absorb small changes in shaft position, but it is not intended to straighten a poorly assembled drive. Catalog limits are 2 degrees angular displacement and ±0.2 mm axial movement. Permitted eccentricity ranges from 0.10 to 0.20 mm according to frame size.
Product Description
Several GIC models share an outside diameter but differ in length. A GIC16×16, for example, is shorter than a GIC16×23. The same choice appears in the 20 mm, 25 mm, 32 mm, 40 mm and 50 mm frame groups.
A shorter body saves space and generally produces a more compact connection. A longer body changes the flexible section and installation envelope. These models are separate configurations, not two names for an interchangeable part.
The smallest GIC model carries a catalog torque rating of 0.5 N·m. Ratings rise through the range to 20 N·m for GIC50×50 and GIC50×71.
The coupling must be sized for the highest torque reached during starting, braking or reversing, not only the torque measured after the machine reaches a constant speed.

| 40 | GIC40×50 and GIC40×56 | 6.5 to 8 | 0.20 |
| 42 | GIC42×50 | 8.5 | 0.20 |
| 50 | GIC50×50 and GIC50×71 | 20 | 0.20 |
Common movement limits for the listed series are 2 degrees angular displacement and ±0.2 mm axial deviation. Exact bore availability and fastening torque are shown in the retained specification drawing.

Product Description
The elastic coupling uses parallel or spiral groove system to adapt to various deviations and accurately transmit torque. Flexible couplings usually have good performance and price advantages. In many practical applications of stepping and servo systems, flexible couplings are the first choice. The one-piece design enables the elastic coupling to realize the advantages of zero-clearance torque transmission and no maintenance. The elastic coupling mainly has the following two basic series: spiral groove type and parallel groove type.

FAQ
How is the GIC coupling different from the previous GC model?
GIC uses parallel machined slots and clamp hubs. The GC page covers a different flexible-body arrangement with different dimensions and operating data.
Can the two coupling bores be different?
Yes. The motor-side bore and driven-side bore can be selected independently within the range available for that model.
Which model should be used when installation space is limited?
Short versions such as GIC16×16, GIC20×20, GIC25×25, GIC32×32 and GIC50×50 occupy less axial space. Torque and bore requirements must still be checked.
Does the coupling require lubrication?
No routine lubrication is needed because the flexible section is machined directly into the aluminum body.
Can non-standard bore sizes be supplied?
We build to customer drawings under OEM/ODM, and accept orders as small as a single piece for standard sizes.
