GFC Split Clamp Spider Coupling
The GFC series connects motor and driven shafts through two aluminum clamp hubs and a polyurethane spider. Its separable three-piece construction allows the flexible element to be inspected or replaced without changing the complete coupling.
Description
Product Details
Torque passes from one aluminum hub into the interlocking polyurethane spider and then into the second hub. The spider separates the metal jaws, cushions changes in load and permits limited displacement between the connected shafts.
Each hub closes around its shaft through a split clamp and fastening screw. This arrangement does not require a keyway and avoids concentrating the holding force at a single set-screw point.
The series covers GFC-14×22 through GFC-95×126. Published rated torque increases from 5 N·m to 250 N·m, while the available outside diameters range from 14 mm to 95 mm.
Selection and Assembly
Both bore diameters must be stated because the motor and driven shafts do not need to be the same size. The selected bore combination must appear within the range listed for the corresponding GFC model.
The two hubs should be fitted with enough space for the spider to work without being compressed axially. Tighten each clamp screw to the value shown for its model; the published fastening torque ranges from 1 N·m to 30 N·m.
The dimensional chart lists allowable eccentricity of 0.1 mm, angular deflection of 1° and axial deviation of ±0.2 mm. These values are installation limits rather than targets for routine alignment. Better shaft alignment reduces spider deformation and uneven jaw loading.

FAQ
Is the GFC series a spiral beam coupling?
No. It is a jaw coupling consisting of two aluminum hubs and a separate polyurethane spider.
Can different bore sizes be used on the two sides?
Yes. Each hub can be selected for its corresponding shaft, provided both bore diameters are available for the chosen GFC model.
Does the coupling require shaft keyways?
The standard connection shown uses split clamp hubs. Keyways are not required unless a separately specified version is ordered.
Can the spider be replaced independently?
Yes. The hubs and elastomer are separate components, allowing the spider to be inspected or replaced after the coupling is opened.
Can the coupling correct poor shaft alignment?
It can accommodate only the limited deviations stated in the technical chart. It should not be used to compensate for visibly incorrect motor or bearing positioning.
Are custom bore combinations available?
We build to customer drawings under OEM/ODM, and accept orders as small as a single piece for standard sizes.
