GFC Elastomer Jaw Coupling
The GFC coupling joins two rotating shafts through a pair of aluminium jaw hubs and a replaceable polyurethane spider.
Description
Product Details
Each half of the coupling is fitted to a separate shaft. When assembled, the jaws of the two hubs engage through the polyurethane spider without direct metal-to-metal contact.
The spider transfers torque between the hubs while softening the effect of starting, stopping and direction changes. It requires no lubrication and can be removed for inspection after the coupling halves are separated.
The available range covers GFC14, GFC20, GFC25, GFC30, GFC40, GFC55, GFC65, GFC80 and GFC95. The model number identifies the coupling size, but it does not define the finished bores on both sides.
Product Description
A GFC coupling can connect a motor to a ball screw, pump or another rotating machine shaft. The two bores may be prepared for different shaft diameters, which is useful when the motor shaft and driven shaft are not the same size.
Small amounts of angular, parallel and axial displacement can be absorbed by the flexible element. This allowance is intended for minor assembly variation rather than correcting visibly misaligned shafts.
Selection should begin with the required torque and operating speed. The two shaft diameters, usable shaft lengths and preferred fastening method must then be checked against the dimensional drawing for the selected GFC model.
The polyurethane spider is a replaceable part. Increased rotational play, vibration or noise during reversal may indicate wear and should be investigated before continued operation.

FAQ
Is this a flexible beam coupling?
No. Although the existing URL uses that description, the product shown on the page is a three-piece GFC elastomer jaw coupling.
Can the two coupling bores have different diameters?
Yes. Each hub can be machined for its corresponding shaft, provided both bore sizes remain within the limits of the selected coupling model.
Does the coupling remove backlash permanently?
The spider is installed between the two sets of jaws, but its condition affects rotational clearance. Wear should be checked when additional play appears during direction changes.
Can it compensate for incorrect motor alignment?
It can accommodate limited installation deviation. The motor and driven shaft should still be aligned before the mounting bolts are tightened.
Can non-standard bores be produced?
We build to customer drawings under OEM/ODM, and accept orders as small as a single piece for standard sizes.
