DFU Double Nut Ball Screw

Product Details

A DFU assembly combines two nut sections in one extended body. The arrangement allows preload to be applied between the nuts, reducing free axial movement when the drive changes direction. This makes the series suitable for positioning systems where repeatable forward and reverse travel is important.

 

The DFU range follows the DIN 69051 Form B mounting configuration. Available models include 16, 20, 25, 32, 40, 50, 63, 80 and 100 mm screw diameters. Depending on diameter, selectable leads range from 4 to 20 mm.

 

Product Description

DFU ball screws are used in CNC feed axes, positioning tables and automated machinery that operate repeatedly in both directions. Compared with a corresponding SFU single-nut assembly, the DFU nut is longer and requires more installation space, but its double-nut configuration provides better control of axial clearance.

 

The screw and nut raceways must be lubricated during operation. Insufficient lubrication increases friction, temperature and raceway wear. Grease or suitable lubricating oil may be used according to the operating speed, load and maintenance arrangement.

 

Load ratings in the following table are catalog values for the ball screw assembly. Actual working life also depends on alignment, applied load, duty cycle, lubrication and contamination protection. Accuracy grade, preload level, screw length and end machining must be specified separately.

FAQ

What is the main difference between DFU and SFU ball screws?

DFU uses a double-nut assembly for preload and axial-clearance control. SFU normally uses a shorter single-nut arrangement. Their nut lengths and installation requirements are different.

Does every DFU model have the same preload?

No. Preload must be selected according to the required rigidity, driving torque and service conditions. Excessive preload can increase heat and shorten service life.

Can the DFU series be supplied with a left-hand helix?

The catalog identifies selected models as available with a left-hand helix. The required direction should be stated with the full model number when ordering.

How should the nut be lubricated?

Grease or lubricating oil can be introduced through the nut's lubrication port. The lubricant and maintenance interval should match the speed, load and operating environment.
