EK EF Axial Reference Support Pair

Product Details

The dimensional sheet covers EK5 through EK20 and EF6 through EF20. These numbers are support designations, not direct descriptions of the unfinished screw diameter.

 

The EK drawing contains several axial dimensions, including L1, L2 and L3. Together they determine where the bearing journal, locating shoulder and locking section must sit inside the housing. The EF drawing uses a simpler end profile, but its journal diameter and engagement length still have to follow the selected row.

 

The housings do not grow from one identical drawing at every size. EK5, EK6–EK8 and EK10–EK20 are shown with different drawing arrangements. A machine plate prepared for one group should therefore not be reused for another size by changing only the center hole.

 

Product Description

Support selection begins at the drawing stage. First choose the EK and EF models, then transfer the corresponding shaft-end dimensions to the ball screw machining drawing. The housing width, center height and base-hole spacing can then be added to the machine layout.

 

Before connecting the motor, assemble the machined screw with both supports and turn it by hand. The journals should enter the bearings without being forced sideways, and both housings should sit flat on their mounting faces. If one block needs to be pulled into position by its mounting bolts, the support holes or center heights require correction.

 

The screw's usable travel must be calculated after space has been reserved for the machined ends, bearing housings, locknut and coupling. Changing the support size after the screw has been manufactured may require the ends to be remachined or may make the shaft unusable.

FAQ

Why is the EF side described as floated?

It supports the far end of the screw without establishing a second rigid axial reference. This prevents the standard assembly from being clamped axially at both ends.

Can two EK units be installed on one ball screw?

That is not the normal EK–EF arrangement. A double-fixed design requires a calculated bearing arrangement and controlled preload rather than simply replacing the EF unit with another EK.

Does an EK8 always match an EF8?

The matching series numbers are a useful starting point, but the two shaft-end drawings, center heights and mounting dimensions must still be checked.

What information is required before machining the screw ends?

Provide the selected EK and EF models and use their dimensional drawings to specify journal diameters, shoulder positions, thread details and finished lengths.

Can the support units be supplied with a machined ball screw?

We build to customer drawings under OEM/ODM, and accept orders as small as a single piece for standard sizes.
