Product Details

The FK housing has a round front flange rather than a mounting foot. It is installed against a prepared machine plate, with its body passing into or through the plate according to the equipment design.

 

Inside the housing, the bearing set is clamped between the shoulder of the machined screw end and a locknut. Once assembled, this stack determines the axial position of the screw. The projecting shaft section remains available for fitting the motor coupling.

 

The series shown on the page includes FK6, FK8, FK10, FK12, FK15, FK20, FK25 and FK30. These references represent different bearing seats and housing dimensions. They are not a direct list of ball screw thread diameters.

 

Product Description

An FK unit should be chosen before the ball screw ends are machined. The support drawing determines the bearing journal diameter, shoulder position, locknut thread and the length left for the coupling. Changing the support afterward may require the shaft end to be machined again.

 

The machine plate also needs to be prepared around the selected unit. Check the flange outside diameter, locating section, bolt circle and required rear clearance. Enough space must remain on the motor side to reach the locknut and coupling screws during assembly.

 

The screw shoulder must contact the bearing stack correctly. A shoulder that is too short, incorrectly positioned or obstructed by a machining radius can prevent proper clamping even when the journal diameter appears correct.

 

After the FK unit is attached to the machine plate, the ball nut and moving table should be positioned without forcing the screw sideways. Turn the screw at several table positions to identify alignment resistance. The motor coupling can be secured after this mechanical check is complete.

 

If the machine uses an FF support at the far end, its location should be established from the aligned screw rather than used to pull the shaft into position.

FAQ

Is an FK unit installed on the motor side?

Yes. It is normally used at the drive end, with the coupling positioned between the ball screw shaft and motor.

Does FK12 automatically match every 12 mm ball screw?

No. The support must match the diameter and length of the machined bearing journal. The nominal screw diameter alone is insufficient.

What is the difference between FK and FF?

FK is the fixed-side unit that controls the screw's axial position. FF is an opposite-end support that primarily provides radial guidance while allowing the selected support arrangement to accommodate shaft behavior.

Should the motor be connected before alignment?

The support housing and ball nut should first be aligned through the full travel. Connecting the motor too early can conceal resistance or place side force on the coupling.

Can the screw end be machined for the selected support?

We build to customer drawings under OEM/ODM, and accept orders as small as a single piece for standard sizes.
