EK Compact Fixed Side Support

Product Details

The EK series is installed at the fixed end of a ball screw. Unlike an EF supported-end unit, it restricts axial movement and helps maintain the screw shaft's position during acceleration, deceleration and direction changes.

 

The bearing arrangement is adjusted before delivery, allowing the complete unit to be mounted without separately setting the internal bearing preload. A dedicated locknut and spacer rings are supplied for securing the machined end of the screw shaft. Available standard models are EK6, EK8, EK10, EK12, EK15 and EK20.

 

Product Description

During assembly, fit the EK unit onto the correctly machined fixed-side shaft end and secure it with the supplied locknut. Temporarily fasten the housing to the machine base before completing alignment with the ball screw nut and the opposite support unit. Final tightening should be carried out only after checking shaft runout and unrestricted travel.

 

Do not dismantle the bearing arrangement during installation. The screw-end dimensions, mounting surface and selected EK size must correspond with one another; the model number alone does not confirm compatibility with an existing shaft.

FAQ

1. Is the EK unit interchangeable with an EF unit?
No. EK is used on the fixed side and controls axial movement. EF supports the opposite end while allowing the arrangement to accommodate normal installation and operating conditions.

2. Does the bearing preload need to be adjusted during assembly?
The internal bearing arrangement is supplied adjusted and preloaded. It should not be dismantled or independently readjusted during normal installation.

3. What information is required when ordering?
Please provide the EK model, ball screw shaft-end drawing, required quantity and any mounting restrictions. These details help confirm dimensional compatibility before production.

4. Can you manufacture a nonstandard support unit?
We build to customer drawings under OEM/ODM, and accept orders as small as a single piece for standard sizes.
