Ground Steel Bearing Guide Shaft

Product Details

This shaft forms the running track for a linear bearing. Its cylindrical surface must remain straight and consistent so the bearing can travel without binding or uneven contact.

 

Material options shown for this product include bearing steel, high carbon chromium steel, 40Cr and medium carbon steel. The suitable material depends on load, machining requirements and the working environment.

 

Standard diameters cover 3 mm to 150 mm. The supplied length and shaft-end configuration can be prepared for the customer's installation. Available machining includes cut-to-length work, threads, flats, reduced ends and drilled holes.

 

Product Description

The bearing bore and shaft diameter must be selected as a pair. A nominally similar rod with an unsuitable diameter tolerance or surface condition may create excessive clearance or prevent the bearing from moving correctly.

 

Before ordering, specify the required diameter, finished length and any machining needed at both ends. If the shaft will be supported only at its ends, its unsupported distance and working load should also be considered because a long span can deflect during operation.

 

The shaft can be used in automated fixtures, handling equipment, printers, cutting machinery and other assemblies where a linear bearing travels along a round guide surface.

Is this product supplied with a linear bearing?

The shaft and bearing are separate components unless they are specifically ordered together.

What information is needed for end machining?

Provide a drawing showing the finished length, thread details, steps, holes and their tolerances.

Can the shaft diameter be chosen only by its nominal size?

No. The bearing specification and its required shaft tolerance should also be considered before ordering.

Is this shaft intended to rotate?

This page describes a guide shaft used primarily as the running surface for linear-bearing travel. Rotating applications require separate checks for speed, load and mounting.

Can custom versions be produced?

We build to customer drawings under OEM/ODM, and accept orders as small as a single piece for standard sizes.
