Product Details
The shaft provides the running surface for a linear bearing. Its outer surface is ground smooth and hardened to resist the repeated contact of the bearing balls. The ends are chamfered so the bearing and seals are less likely to be damaged during assembly.
Product Description
This type of shaft is used in printers, packaging machines, measuring equipment and other straight-line mechanisms. It can be mounted between end supports or combined with intermediate supports when the unsupported length would otherwise allow too much bending.
Diameter and straightness affect how the bearing runs. A shaft that is too small for the bearing creates clearance; one that is oversized can make the bearing tight. Long shafts also need enough support for the actual load. If the installation requires threads, steps, flats or drilled holes, those features should be included in the drawing before machining begins.
We build to customer drawings under OEM/ODM, and accept orders as small as a single piece for standard sizes.
