Housings for this bearing type come in three basic forms - standard, flanged, and clearance-adjustable - and this one is the flanged version, which mounts flush against a machine frame or bracket without needing a separate housing block. Because the balls contact the shaft at a point rather than across a surface, load capacity stays modest, but that same point contact is what keeps friction low enough for smooth, high-precision travel over an effectively unlimited stroke length.

The bushing and its matching LM shaft are interchangeable, so any bushing in this line pairs with any shaft of the same diameter rather than being locked to one specific shaft. A molded resin retainer keeps the balls from falling out of the standard type and cuts down on running noise, which matters in equipment where the bearing runs for long, continuous stretches.
