When replacing an installed bearing, check three measurements before relying on the model stamped near the seal: the shaft must be 25 mm, the housing bore must accept a 40 mm cylinder, and the available pocket length must accommodate the 59 mm body.

 

Two grooves are machined around the outside near the ends. Depending on the bearing-block design, these grooves can work with retaining rings to stop the insert from moving lengthwise inside its housing. They do not determine the running stroke and should remain inside the mounting area.

 

Black seals close both ends of the cylinder. Their lips contact the shaft, so a damaged seal may create drag even when the bearing itself is still usable. A torn or folded lip should therefore be checked before the complete unit is replaced.

 

Product Description

LM25UU contains six internal rows for guided travel along a hardened 25 mm shaft. Because the bearing is a closed cylinder, it must be installed from an accessible end of the shaft; it cannot be placed around the middle of an assembled rail.

 

Before sliding it onto the shaft, remove burrs from shoulders, grooves and threaded ends. A sharp edge can cut the first seal as the bearing passes over it. A thin assembly sleeve may be used where the shaft end contains features that cannot be removed.

 

Do not test the bearing by allowing it to run beyond the end of the shaft. Without the shaft beneath the loaded section, balls can leave their normal position and the plastic internal parts may be damaged.

No. Its closed cylindrical body must slide over an accessible shaft end.

What should be checked before passing it over a threaded shaft end?

Remove burrs and cover sharp threads or grooves so they cannot cut or turn the seal lip inward.

Why are there grooves around the outside of the bearing?

They provide retaining positions for compatible housing arrangements. The actual method depends on the bearing block design.

Does a new bearing always correct loose movement?

Not necessarily. Wear on the 25 mm shaft or excessive clearance in the housing can remain even after the bearing is replaced.

Can LM25UU be used without a housing?

The outer cylinder requires proper support and retention. It should not be left loose or secured only at one small contact point.
