Identifying Both Ends

The FK side is shown with a threaded precision locknut. This nut tightens the screw shaft against the bearing arrangement and establishes the axial reference for the complete drive.

 

The FF side can be identified by its single radial bearing and retaining circlip. It supports the opposite journal without using the same locknut arrangement as the fixed end.

 

These components should not be exchanged during assembly. A shaft end prepared with a locknut thread for FK will not match the groove and journal arrangement required by FF.

 

Shaft Drawing Requirements

The motor-side drawing must show the FK bearing journal, shoulder, locknut thread and coupling section. Their positions determine where the screw is held relative to the machine mounting face.

 

At the FF end, the drawing must show the radial-bearing journal and retaining-ring groove. Groove width and position matter because the circlip prevents the bearing or shaft from moving out of its intended assembly position.

 

The numeric size of an FK or FF unit refers to its bearing and machined-end arrangement. It should not be selected directly from the nominal outside diameter of the threaded ball screw section.

FAQ

How can the FK and FF units be distinguished after unpacking?

The FK side is associated with the threaded locknut. The FF side uses a radial bearing and retaining circlip.

Can two FF units be used instead of an FK and FF pair?

Not for a standard fixed-and-supported arrangement. Two FF units do not provide the same axial location as the FK fixed side.

Does an FK12 automatically fit a 12 mm ball screw?

No. Selection follows the machined bearing journal and support-unit drawing, not only the diameter of the screw thread.

Why are the two shaft ends machined differently?

One end must accept the fixed bearing and locknut, while the other requires a journal and groove for the FF bearing and circlip.

Are the loose locknut and circlip included?

They are shown in the product images, but the exact supplied components should be listed in the quotation.

Can the screw ends be machined for this support pair?

We build to customer drawings under OEM/ODM, and accept orders as small as a single piece for standard sizes.
