SHF Face-Mounted Split Shaft Clamp
The SHF secures a stationary linear shaft where the shaft axis meets a mounting plate at a right angle. Its two-hole flange fixes the support to the plate, while the divided bore closes around the shaft through a separate clamp screw.
Description
Two Fastening Actions
The flange holes and the side screw perform separate tasks. The flange fasteners attach the aluminum body to the machine panel. The side screw closes the cut in the body and grips the shaft inside the bore.
The side screw should not be used to pull an incorrectly positioned shaft into line. Likewise, tightening the flange bolts cannot compensate for an unsuitable shaft fit. The panel position establishes the support location; the split bore only retains the shaft after that location is correct.
What the Installation Drawing Must Show
The drawing should identify which side of the panel carries the flange and which direction the shaft enters. Space is also required for the shaft behind the bore and for a tool to reach the clamp screw.
Keep a plain cylindrical section of shaft inside the support. Threads, flats, cross holes and reduced end sections should remain beyond the clamping area because they reduce the available contact surface.
The bore passes through the support and does not create a built-in axial stop. Shaft insertion depth must therefore be established by the machine layout, an assembly reference or a separate stop feature.
SHF is a stationary locating component. It holds the guide shaft while a separate linear bearing or carriage travels elsewhere on that shaft.

FAQ
Does the SHF determine how far the shaft enters?
No. Its bore is open through the body, so insertion depth must be defined elsewhere in the assembly.
Can a threaded shaft end sit inside the clamp area?
It should be avoided. The support should grip a complete cylindrical surface rather than a thread, flat or reduced section.
Can the clamp screw be used to correct shaft position?
No. Set the shaft position from the machine references first and use the screw only to retain it.
Can the support be fixed directly to thin sheet metal?
Only when the panel is sufficiently rigid. A flexible panel may require reinforcement to prevent the shaft reference from moving under load.
What needs to be checked around the panel?
Confirm flange space, mounting-hole positions, shaft clearance behind the panel and access to the clamp screw.
Can a nonstandard mounting arrangement be supplied?
We build to customer drawings under OEM/ODM, and accept orders as small as a single piece for standard sizes.
