SK Base Mounted Shaft Clamp
The SK series holds a round linear shaft above a flat mounting surface. Its aluminum body combines a raised shaft bore, two base-mounting holes and a split clamp for locking the shaft in position.
Description
Product Details
An SK support is installed from its base, with the shaft running parallel to the mounting surface. This distinguishes it from the face-mounted SHF holder used on the previous page. The SK body establishes the shaft centre height above the machine base and provides a fixed anchoring point at the end of the shaft.
The bore includes a narrow opening. When the upper clamping screw is tightened, this opening closes slightly around the shaft. The shaft is retained without needing to be pressed into the aluminum body.
Despite the original page name "Shaft Support Bearings," the SK component is not a bearing. It has no rolling balls, cage or internal circulation track. Any movement along the shaft is performed by a separate linear bearing or bushing.
Product Description
SK supports are commonly installed in pairs, one near each end of a fixed shaft. The machine base must provide enough room for the support footprint, while the selected model determines both the matching shaft diameter and shaft centre height.
Alignment should be established before the clamps are fully tightened. First position both supports loosely on the mounting surface, insert the shaft and check that it sits naturally through both bores. The base screws can then be tightened, followed by the shaft clamps. This sequence reduces the risk of forcing the shaft between two misaligned supports.
For assemblies using two parallel shafts, the distance and parallel relationship between the shafts must agree with the bearing blocks mounted on the moving component. An SK support fixes the shaft position but does not correct errors in the machine base or mounting-hole layout.
The model number corresponds to the nominal shaft diameter. SK20A is therefore selected for a 20 mm shaft. Before ordering a replacement, also compare the centre height, base width and mounting-hole spacing shown in the dimensional drawing.
We accept orders as small as a single piece for standard sizes. Please contact us for delivery lead time based on order quantity.

FAQ
Q: What is the main difference between SK and SHF supports?
A: SK mounts from its base and holds the shaft above that surface. SHF uses a flange for face mounting.
Q: Does the SK support move along the shaft?
A: No. It remains fixed to the machine and locks the shaft in place.
Q: Does SK12A contain a 12 mm linear bearing?
A: No. It is a holder for a 12 mm shaft. The moving linear bearing is ordered separately.
Q: Should the clamp be tightened before the support base?
A: Final clamping should be completed after the supports and shaft have been aligned.
Q: Is shaft diameter enough to confirm a replacement?
A: No. Centre height, base dimensions and mounting-hole spacing should also match the existing installation.
