Product Details

The KRV series uses a stud-type mounting structure, allowing the follower to be installed without a separate shaft. Its outer ring runs directly against a cam or track while the internal rolling elements support radial load.

 

Standard sizes range from KRV13 to KRV90. Thread sizes increase from M5×0.8 on KRV13 to M30×1.5 on KRV80, KRV85 and KRV90. The required roller diameter, stud diameter, thread and available mounting space should all be checked before selection.

 

Product Description

KRV cam followers are suited to indexing equipment, cam mechanisms, conveyors, machine-tool changers and other mechanisms in which a roller repeatedly follows a defined path. The thick outer ring is designed to withstand localized contact with the mating track.

 

KRV is a full-complement roller configuration intended for higher radial load capacity. Compared with a caged KR follower of the same size, it generally operates with a lower permissible rotational speed. The bearing should not be selected as a thrust bearing; axial guidance loads must remain within the limits of the complete mechanism.

 

Correct installation requires a flat supporting shoulder, suitable stud tightening and alignment between the roller and its track. Lubrication condition, track hardness, surface finish and edge loading can all affect operating life.

What is the difference between KR and KRV cam followers?

KRV uses a full-complement rolling-element arrangement for greater radial load capacity. KR uses a caged arrangement that is generally more suitable for higher operating speeds.

Can the outer ring have a crowned profile?

Cylindrical and crowned running surfaces may be available. A crowned profile can help reduce edge loading when slight alignment errors cannot be avoided.

Are eccentric versions available?

The specification sheet identifies eccentric versions with the KRVE designation. They can be used where the roller position must be adjusted relative to the track.

Does the bearing require lubrication?

Lubrication is required unless the selected version is specifically supplied as a maintenance-free design. Lubricant type and replenishment interval depend on speed, load and operating conditions.
