GL Double Diaphragm Servo Coupling
The GL series links a servo motor to a driven shaft through two stainless steel diaphragm packs. The double-diaphragm layout accommodates limited mounting offset while maintaining direct metal-to-metal torque transmission.

Product Details
A GL coupling has two clamping hubs, two flexible diaphragm sections and a central spacer. Both hubs are manufactured from high-strength aluminum alloy. The flexible elements are SUS304 spring steel, so the assembly operates without an elastomer insert or routine lubrication.
When the connected shafts move slightly out of position, the diaphragms flex instead of allowing the hubs to slide. The listed angular allowance is 1.5 degrees, while permitted eccentricity and axial movement depend on coupling size. These values are installation limits rather than recommended operating targets; closer shaft alignment places less cyclic stress on the diaphragms.
The clamp-style hubs grip the shafts without using a projecting key or set screw against the shaft surface. Each bore must still match its shaft correctly, and the fastening screws should be tightened to the torque shown for the selected model.

GL is the double-diaphragm counterpart to the shorter GS single-diaphragm series. The extra diaphragm and center section give the GL design greater freedom to accommodate parallel offset, but also increase its overall length.
Ten frame sizes are available, beginning with GL19×27 at 1 N·m rated torque and extending to GL82×98 at 100 N·m. Maximum catalog speed is 10,000 rpm for sizes through GL56×64, 9,000 rpm for GL68×75 and 8,000 rpm for GL82×98.
Select the coupling by checking both shaft diameters first, then rated torque, maximum speed and permitted displacement. Motor output alone is not enough for selection because acceleration, reversing frequency and load inertia can raise the peak torque above the motor's continuous rating.

All models have an allowable angular deflection of 1.5 degrees. The two hub bores can be selected separately to match the motor shaft and driven shaft. Please provide both shaft diameters when requesting a quotation.
FAQ
How does the GL series differ from the GS series?
GL uses two diaphragm sections with a spacer between them. GS uses a single diaphragm section and has a shorter overall body.
Can different bore sizes be used on the two hubs?
Yes. The motor-side and driven-side bores can be selected separately from the available bore options for that frame size.
Does the coupling need lubrication?
No routine lubrication is required because torque is transmitted through metal hubs and stainless steel diaphragms.
Can the coupling correct poor shaft alignment?
It can accommodate only the limited deviations stated in the table. The shafts should still be aligned as closely as practical before operation.
Are drawing-based bore or mounting changes available?
We build to customer drawings under OEM/ODM, and accept orders as small as a single piece for standard sizes.
