SFE End Cap Ball Screw

This series is built around a high-lead screw and a cylindrical flanged nut. Balls passing through the loaded raceway are redirected by the end-cap return system and fed back into the nut for the next cycle.

 

Six standard diameter and lead combinations are shown on this page. The smallest is SFE1616, while SFE5050 is the largest listed size. The mounting flange connects the nut to the moving carriage; the screw ends are machined separately to fit the selected support units, coupling and motor arrangement.

 

Product Description

The defining feature of the SFE range is the amount of travel obtained from each shaft revolution. This makes it useful for transfer mechanisms, loading equipment, packaging machinery and other axes where the carriage must cover distance without excessive motor speed.

 

The model should be selected from the required travel per revolution, not from shaft diameter alone. Overall stroke and rotational speed must also be considered because a longer unsupported screw is more susceptible to vibration and shaft whip.

 

For vertical movement, the drive must be able to hold the load after power is removed. Accuracy class, axial clearance, preload and material are separate order specifications and should be written on the drawing or inquiry.

 

FAQ

1 What does SFE2525 mean

It identifies a nominal 25 mm screw diameter combined with a 25 mm lead. The nut therefore advances 25 mm during one complete screw revolution.

2 Is a higher lead always a better choice

No. A high lead increases travel per revolution, but motor torque, stopping distance, available installation space and load direction must still suit the machine.

3 Can you machine both ends of the screw

We build to customer drawings under OEM/ODM, and accept orders as small as a single piece for standard sizes.

4 What information should be marked on the drawing

Mark the total screw length, threaded length, bearing seats, threads, shoulders, keyways and any other required end features. The selected SFE model and requested accuracy should also be included.

5 Does the nut prevent a vertical load from moving when power is off

The nut should not be treated as a holding brake. A vertical axis may need a braked motor or a separate mechanical holding device.
