DFU16 Flanged Double Nut
Order a DFU16 and you're really choosing among several different screws that happen to share a name — lead, circulation path, and end machining all vary within the family, so the four-character model number alone won't get you the right part.
Description
Why Two Nuts Instead of One
A single ball nut always has a small amount of internal clearance between the balls and the raceway - not a flaw, just a byproduct of how it's manufactured. Under normal load that clearance doesn't matter much, but the moment the screw reverses direction, it shows up as a brief dead zone before motion resumes: backlash. DFU16 solves this by mounting two nut sections on one flange and preloading them against each other, squeezing that clearance out from opposite directions. The tradeoff is a longer, bulkier nut assembly than a single-nut design of the same diameter - worth it when reversal accuracy matters, unnecessary weight if your application only ever moves one direction.
What Actually Varies Within DFU16
Three lead options are common - DFU1604-4, DFU1605-4, and DFU1610-3, giving 4mm, 5mm, or 10mm of travel per screw revolution - and each pairs with its own ball circulation layout inside the nut. Beyond the lead, screw length, end-journal machining, preload class, and accuracy grade are all specified per order. Treat "DFU16" as a family name, not a purchasable part number, and confirm the full spec before it goes into production.
Where the Rigidity Actually Matters
CNC tables, automated positioning stages, and measuring equipment all share one trait: the axis reverses direction constantly. Every reversal is a chance for uncompensated clearance to turn into a positioning error, which is the specific problem this screw is built to avoid. That said, preload only fixes clearance inside the nut - it won't correct a bent screw shaft, a misaligned fixed-end bearing, or a housing that isn't square to the travel axis. Get those wrong and no amount of preload saves the result.

FAQ
Q: Are you a manufacturer?
A: Yes - this has been our core business for over 10 years, not a trading arrangement.
Q: How long does a full container order take?
A: Around 30 days is the usual benchmark, though it shifts with quantity and spec.
Q: Do you offer OEM work?
A: Yes - size, quantity, design, packaging, and your logo can all be built to your specification.
Q: What's your delivery time?
A: 5–7 days for in-stock items, 15–30 days for made-to-order, depending on quantity.
Q: What does a sample cost?
A: It depends on the item and quantity - tell us both and we'll quote accordingly.
