A batch of SCS20UU blocks was finished this week for an order going to Italy. They are small compared with a rail or a Ball Screw, but parts like this often turn up in several places on the same machine. The blocks will go with our other export cargo by sea.
The SCS20UU Linear Bearing Block uses an aluminum housing around the bearing unit and runs on a round shaft. Once the shaft position is set, the block can be bolted onto the moving part of the machine. It is a simple arrangement, which is why this style still shows up in printing equipment, general machinery and lighter automation work.
On this size of block, the housing does more than give the bearing somewhere to sit. It also gives the machine builder a flat mounting surface, so there is no need to design a separate holder around the bearing. An SCS20UU Linear Bearing Block can be replaced on its own as well, which is useful on machines that have already been running for some time.
Italy has plenty of machinery where compact linear parts like these make sense. Automatic packaging equipment is a major part of the Italian machinery industry, and the country also has a large machine tool and automation base. Small slides, adjustment mechanisms and auxiliary axes are common around this kind of equipment, especially where the designer does not need a heavy profile rail for every movement.
The blocks from this order were packed together after the model markings were checked. Their aluminum housings keep the package fairly compact, so they can share the same sea shipment with other machine parts instead of taking a separate case.
SCS20UU Linear Bearing Block is a standard model, but standard parts are not the only work we take.
