A short clip from the shop floor this week shows the first step in producing a custom 4-meter linear guide rail order - the cutting stage, where raw rail stock gets sized down to the exact length a customer needs.
The rail being cut here is compatible with Taiwan HIWIN profiles, which matters for buyers who already have HIWIN rails installed and want a drop-in replacement or expansion without redesigning their mounting structure. Same bolt pattern, same cross-section, same fit. That compatibility only holds up if the cutting itself is done correctly, which is really the point of this video.
Cutting a linear guide rail is not the same as cutting ordinary steel bar stock. The hardened raceway surface that the bearing block rolls on needs to stay free of burrs, heat distortion, and any dimensional drift at the cut end. The machine in the clip uses a fixed cutting head with the rail clamped and fed through at a controlled rate, which keeps the cut square and prevents the kind of edge damage that would otherwise need to be reworked later. After cutting, the ends typically go through a deburring and chamfering step before the rail is ready for drilling and final inspection - cutting is just the first stage in getting from raw stock to a finished part.
Length is fully customizable on this product. The current run is being cut to a 4-meter total length, but rails can be produced shorter or longer depending on what the machine design calls for. There is no fixed minimum order tied to a specific length - if a customer needs an unusual dimension for a one-off project, that is handled the same way as a standard production run.
Private branding is also available. Customers who want their own logo on the finished rail rather than ours can have that arranged as part of the order, which is a common request from OEM equipment builders who resell the finished machine under their own name.
If you have a project that needs HIWIN-compatible linear guide rails cut to a specific length, reach out with your drawing or dimensions and we can quote it directly.
