A hollow shaft with a machined side opening requires attention to more than its outside diameter. The central bore, wall thickness and position of the side opening all need to match the equipment drawing. Once installed, there is little room to correct these details without taking the assembly apart again.
The Hollow Linear Shaft shown here has a central opening and additional machining on the outer wall. This type of construction can be useful when a machine needs a lighter shaft or space inside the shaft for wiring, compressed air or lubrication. Depending on the application, the hollow section can serve a practical purpose beyond simply reducing weight.
For manufacturers in Mexico, these parts have applications in several established industrial sectors. Automotive production and its supporting equipment remain important, particularly across the Bajío and northern regions. Electronics assembly, aerospace and medical equipment manufacturing also create demand for machinery with accurately fitted motion components.
As more production processes adopt automated feeding, positioning and material handling, machine builders often need shafts made to fit an existing structure. A standard shaft may have the correct diameter but still require additional machining before it can be installed.
Our Hollow Linear Shaft range covers diameters from 3 mm to 150 mm, with customized lengths available. Material options include GCr15 bearing steel, stainless steel, carbon steel and aluminum. Depending on the drawing, processing can include drilling, milling, CNC turning, grinding and other machining operations. Radial holes, coaxial holes, threading and reduced-diameter sections can also be arranged.
For a new project, we recommend sending the shaft drawing with the required dimensions and hole positions. An existing sample is also useful when replacing a part from an older machine. OEM and ODM production is available for customized requirements.
A shaft may look simple when placed on a workbench, but its fit inside the machine depends on several small details. Getting those details right before production saves unnecessary adjustments during installation.
