Two sets of custom C5 ground Ball Screws are wrapped, crated, and ready to ship out today. This small-batch run was machined strictly to the customer's print, matching their exact end-journal dimensions and housing fitments. Because these shafts are going into an existing machinery setup with tight mounting limits, getting the step-down diameters, keyways, and snap-ring grooves right to the print was just as critical as grinding the thread pitch.
Both assemblies were built to C5 precision standards, keeping positioning error within 0.018mm across the working stroke. After induction hardening the alloy steel shafts, our machinist thread-ground the raceways and finish-ground the bearing journals. Before moving the parts to packing, our QC tech checked every critical bearing seat diameter with an outside micrometer to confirm zero-taper accuracy. The preloaded ball nuts were then custom-fitted to each screw, eliminating backlash while keeping rotation smooth from end to end.
Long, precision-ground shafts can easily bow or pick up rust if packaging is rushed. After final dimensional sign-off, we coated both screws in heavy rust inhibitor, wrapped them tight in blue VCI moisture-proof film, and settled them into thick EPE foam blocks inside a custom wooden crate. The fitted foam cutouts hold the long shafts level and absorb road shock during transit. The crate is now sealed and scheduled for pickup, heading straight to the customer's facility for immediate installation.
