A maritime freight shipment containing precision HG series Linear Guides cleared customs at Shanghai Port this week, bound for an automated stamping machinery builder in Bologna, Italy. The shipment finishes a custom production run initiated last winter, after their team spent five months stress-testing guide rail samples on a high-speed sheet metal transfer gantry. During shop trials, the test rails logged over two million continuous travel cycles at speeds up to 20 meters per minute under off-center loading, maintaining structural rigidity and carriage positioning straight through the evaluation.
The delivered order covers customized interchangeable rails paired with four-row high-load ball carriages, built to take heavy moment loads whether the gantry is pushing down or pulling up. We manufactured the rail bodies from high-carbon bearing steel, passing them through induction hardening to reach HRC 58–62 before running raceways through precision profile grinding machines. To protect against edge loading under heavy structural deflection, each carriage incorporates a gothic-arch four-point contact groove geometry with medium ZA preloading. We also built these carriage units with full-perimeter synthetic rubber end seals and inner bottom wipers, keeping fine metal dust and stamping lubricant out of the internal steel ball recirculation paths.
With the cargo scheduled for a 28-day maritime transit through the Mediterranean to the Port of Genoa, our packaging crew focused heavily on long-term corrosion prevention. Each three-meter guide rail was coated with a thick layer of synthetic rust-preventative grease, sealed inside airtight VCI moisture-barrier sleeving, and strapped down inside thick-walled wooden crates using fitted internal cleats to prevent sagging or vibration bowing during vessel transit. The container is expected to arrive at the Bologna plant in mid-September to feed directly into their autumn gantry assembly schedule.
