A ocean container carrying C3-grade precision ground Ball Screws left Ningbo Port this week, heading for a machine tool builder based in Bursa, Turkey. This shipment closes out a custom build program that started seven months ago when their engineers installed test sets into two of their 5-axis milling machine prototypes. They ran those test centers through heavy steel milling cycles, tracking thermal drift, backlash stability, and feed repeatability under continuous 12-meter-per-minute rapid traverses before approving this production batch.
The ordered batch covers SFU and DFU series ground Ball Screws, sized specifically for high axial stiffness under heavy cutting forces. The screw shafts are machined from SCM420 alloy steel, case-hardened via continuous induction to HRC 58–62, and thread-ground on CNC grinders to hold positioning repeatability inside 0.003mm. To prevent reversal lost motion during fast contour cuts, we assembled these units with a preloaded double-nut arrangement on gothic-arch thread profiles. Each nut housing carries integrated multi-lip NBR wipers to stop Cast Iron swarf and coolant mist from grinding into the internal ball tracks.
Because maritime transit to the Port of Ambarli in Istanbul takes roughly 25 days, protecting ground raceways against salt air took priority during packaging. Every shaft got coated with heavy rust-preventative oil, sealed in VCI vapor-inhibitor film, and blocked inside wooden crates with internal timber supports to prevent bowing during vessel movement. The container is slated to dock in early September, feeding straight into the customer's next assembly block.
