By checking the malfunctioning linear block, the root cause of the malfunction of the linear block can be determined, and necessary corrective measures can be taken to prevent the failure from recurring.
Electric corrosion. When current flows from one raceway to another through the rolling elements, it will cause galvanic corrosion or sparks. The degree of damage depends on the amount of energy and time, but the result is often the same: galvanic corrosion pits appear on the rollers and raceways, the lubricant rapidly degrades, and the linear block fails prematurely. In order to prevent damage caused by current, an insulated linear block or an insulated linear block sleeve is usually used at the non-drive end.
Poor lubrication or contamination. If the viscosity of the lubricant is not enough or impurities are introduced, the lubricating oil film between the rolling elements and the raceway will become thin, resulting in metal-to-metal surface contact. To avoid this, first check whether the correct lubricant is used, and check whether the relubrication interval and dosage are suitable for this application. If the lubricant contains contaminants, check the seals and determine if they need to be replaced or updated. According to different applications, in some cases, it is necessary to use a high-viscosity lubricant to increase the thickness of the oil film.
vibration. If the rotor shaft of the motor is not firmly fixed during transportation, vibration may occur in the gap of the linear block, which may cause damage to the linear block. Similarly, if the motor is subjected to exogenous vibration for a long time in a static state, the linear block will also be damaged. The linear block should be fixed in a proper way during transportation. If the motor is stationary for a long time, please rotate the rotor shaft regularly.
Improper installation and assembly. Common errors in installation include misalignment, imbalance, and excessive belt tension. When a hammer or other similar tool is used to install the half coupling or pulley on the shaft, it will cause the linear block to overload.
Insufficient load on the linear block. The linear block always needs the minimum load to work properly. Damage caused by insufficient slide preload may manifest as adhesive wear on the rollers and raceways. To prevent this from happening again, make sure to apply sufficient external load to the linear block.
