The choice of lubricating oil directly affects the temperature rise of the ball screw. The ball screw must be lubricated with one of oil or grease. Generally, it is recommended to lubricate the ball screw with bearing lubricant, and the grease is recommended to be grease based on lithium soap. The choice of oil viscosity is based on operating speed, working temperature and load conditions.
When the working condition is high speed and low load, it is best to choose low viscosity oil; when low speed and high load, it is recommended to use high viscosity oil. Generally speaking, it is recommended to use lubricating oil at high speed. The viscosity index range at 40℃ is 32-68cSt; while at low speed, it is recommended to use lubricating oil with viscosity index above 90cSt at 40℃. Applied to high speed and heavy load, forced cooling must be used to lower the temperature, and cooling oil can be passed through the hollow screw to achieve the cooling effect.
